2005 - and all that.

What a difference 12 months can make. Exactly one year ago right now, I was doing a live gig in the SoBar in Swansea with Chris Blumer, having a free New Year's Eve night for me and Louise and getting paid just under a ton for it. Tonight I'm in, just me and Alyssa. I'm happy like that - my and my little girl.

12 months ago I had no idea that my previous 5 months' actions had made me a marked man. I paid for my mistakes in August. That really really ruined my summer - I couldn't settle for 2 and a half months. My own fault, I brought it on myself.

I certainly won't be going there again.

I guess mortality is staring me in the face - although late in the year, 2005 will be remembered for dad having a stroke. Even though it was a small one, it'll change things forever.

Met some really interesting people this year including all the guys from New Sandfields, AfanFM, Leah, the Bay View guys and of course Clare. Clare Clare Clare!

The Bay View has turned out to be a liberating experience. I'm free to do what I do best there and get paid comfortably for it, can't argue with that.

The winter and spring had to be a bad time for me - living in Swan Street really got me down. The place was cold most of the time and my then-landlord....let's not go there.

Made contact with some old friends this year too - very theraputic.

So what does 2006 hold for me? Let's hope nothing like the council incident occurs - I don't want anything like that anymore. Let's hope I can stay following Big J.

Pastor Eric

What a knock-out surprise!

Woke up at about 8am and gave my parents their presents - I bought my mother the Choirboys CD and a leather case for Diabled Parking permit, and my father had a bulk box of 48 Sherbert Fountains. Trust me, that made his day.

Then it came around to my turn for presents. As usual I had a Burton's voucher-card-thingy which was great - and was all I expected. Then my mother handed me another box - an Adidas deoderant and shower gel set. Nice, was thinking I needed to get deoderant soon.

Honestly I was happy to leave it there - it was more than I expected. Then came the surprise...she handed me another parcel which felt like material, possibly a jumper?

As I opened I my heart sank as I saw the vile pink and lime-green fabric inside - I was envisaging forcing a smile as I gave my thanks for a shirt that had unwisely been bought for me.

As I unwrapped it completely, I realised it was a cushion case - and there was something inside it. A jiffy bag.

I opened the jiffy bag....to find an Ipod nano! Man was I surprised! Completely unexpected! I'd be thinking about getting myself one in the new year and a few weeks ago I was out shopping with my parents and decided to show them what an Ipod looked like. I wasn't hinting, I just wanted them to see how small it was. As it transpires, when I dropped my parents off, they phoned the shop and ordered it for me. Fantastic - an amazing surprise.

Picked Alyssa up at 12 and brought her home, she was really excited to see all her presents, one of which was a Balamory scooter - and the poor little thing stood there waiting patiently for 30 minutes while I constructed it! She was landed. She loved her play kitchen set too, even though that took me ages to put together too. She had loads of other toys and clothes as well - she went home at 4 with a big smile on her face.

Ah well, it's all over for another year then. Excellent day had by all!

Accident and Emergency

Finally finished my Christmas shopping! I left it really late - mustn't do that again.

Did my show last night and I felt a LOT better about it although it could have improved in a few ways. What was more interesting was Eugene Sully from this year's Big Brother was in the studio - what a cool bloke! He agreed to an interview on my show which was good and he dished the dirt on some celebs, some I could broadcast, some I couldn't ;)

Unfortunately he ended up having a nasty accident with some detergent and went to hospital for a check-up but he was fine afterwards.

Last show on friday, I'm looking forward to it. Let's go out with a bang!

Stodge

Let's hope tonight's show goes off better - in fact I'm pretty confident it will. Done loads of prep so I'll have no excuse.

Just about done my Christmas shopping - at long last. Really wierd this year actually. Still, it's all about Alyssa now, not me!

I'm going to compile a list of everyone who has annoyed me this year along with one of all the people who I found to be really cool in 2005. I'll do that sometime next week I think.

So, I'm back with the E550 - better than the SE k700i. Feels odd how a lot of things from this year have returned - does that happen to anyone else? Just me then!

Is this the most boring blog entry ever??

King for a day, fool for a lifetime

What an anticlimax.

My first show for Afan FM on this RSL was an awful display. Some people have said kind words about it and I appreciate them but I know what I'm capable of and friday was well below my normal standard.

OK it's been almost 6 months since I last did a show but that's no real excuse. The equipment was set up in a way which was alien to me - certain controls were in place which I just didn't prepare for - in fact I hardly prepped at all and it really showed. I just winged it as best I could and rode out the 2 hours.

My next show should be greatly improved. I'll have more time to prepare plus I should have an assistant to help me with the texts and emails.

One of my aims for doing this stint was to gather as much of my work together on CD to use as my demo to pitch to other radio stations.

I won't be using any of friday's material.
